What’s a pirate’s favourite amino acid???? Aaaaarrrrrginine
Amino acids differ based on their R group. While researching amino acids, I came across an interesting way to memorize amino acids.

Glycine, Alanine, Valine, Leucine, Isoleucine, Methionine, Cysteine, Proline, Phenylalanine, Tryptophan.
One question asked in the amino acid video was what causes sickle cell anaemia???? Glutamic acid is replaced by Valine, changing the amino acid sequence in the primary structure of one of the haemoglobin polypeptide chains, thus changing the structure of the polypetide, altering the function of the protein. The altered haemoglobin is less soluble since the hydrophobic effect is disrupted as valine, a nonpolar molecule is now in contact with aqueous solution. The altered haemoglobin is less soluble which tend to stick together, distorting the the shape of red blood cells.
How many polypeptide chains does haemoglobin have?
Which chain does the mutation causing sickle cell anaemia occur?
